ON TH GO with the stylish Bugaboo Bee

The Bugaboo Bee

bee2

This stylish looking vehicle is the new lightweight buggy from Bugaboo. A great deal of thought and engineering has gone into making the Bugaboo Bee – form integrated with function, says Max Barenbrug, the designer and co-founder of Bugaboo – and he is spot on. The Bee’s compact build belies a range of features generally reserved for larger buggies. And unlike its big sisters, the Gecko and Chameleon, the Bee folds in one piece (7.7kgs) and can squeeze into the smallest of car boots.
The seat is sturdy and the cushioning exceeds any other small buggy. The five-point harness adjusts easily (the headrest adjusts in tandem). The seat has four recline positions and it can be removed easily (after a bit of fiddling) and replaced to face either the parent or away.
Although it says it is suitable from birth, the seat is not a genuine lie-flat seat nor does it convert to a carrycot, but it really is flat enough and with the Bugaboo Babynest or another warm liner the Bee is quite cosy from the newborn stage. You also have the option to convert to a travel system with the aid of car seat adapters.
The composite rubber wheels reduce road noise while providing additional cushioning and the suspension has all the functionality of the Cameleon/Frog.
At £375 RRP, the Bee may seem expensive at first glance, but give it a road test and you’ll see that this stylish and compact Bugaboo is a dream to push and manoeuver while managing to tick all the practicality boxes. Accessories available include a breezy sun canopy (an alternative summer hood with extra ventilation), car seat adapters, cup-holder, diaper bag, footmuff, parasol and wheeled transport bag.
